Children in Eastern Province Receive Birth Certificates.

The people of Nyakachoko village in chief Nyampande’s area in Zambia’s Eastern province are delighted that children will now be able to get birth certification when they are born. Nyakachoko has had problems of lack of birth certificates for a long time, causing most community members to be living without records. Sometimes children are born at home and follow ups to acquire birth certificates of the newly born babies are not done.

Magistrates undergoe Child Justice training


“The Guest of Honor, according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) a child is any person below the age of 18 and this age group comprises about 53% of Zambia’s population according to the last national census”. This was the statement made by Save the Children country Director Tamer Kirolos during a workshop for magistrates in Lusaka.

International Day of the Girl Child

Save the Children joins governments and NGOs across the world to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child that falls on 11 October, 2013. This year’s theme Innovating for the Girls’ Education highlights the structural violence that limits girls’ enjoyment of their rights and subsequent challenges in their education progression.
