It’s a hot September afternoon as the crowd gathers under a huge African Mukuyu tree to witness a wedding between 30 year old Mutaka Chintuka and 16 year old Mandalena Kapenya a grade nine pupil at Chinemu Primary school.

However, this is not a real wedding but one displayed in role play to portray the vice of early marriages in Lufwanyama district, situated 456 kilometres from Zambia’s capital Lusaka.

GHR Members visit Zambia

Members of the GHR staff, board recently visited Zambia to meet with grantee partners and the children and families they serve.The first day was spent visiting families and children in Kabwe with Catholic Medical Mission Board and engaging a circle of mothers who have formed a savings group.

Each member of the serving group contributes 50 cents per week to provide emergency grants and small business loans for members. These efforts help families meet basic needs and keep their children at home.

Street kids re-unite with with family


Rabbeca and Mary have reason to be happy because they have been reunited with their grandparents after their parents abandoned them.Nine year old Rebecca and her thirteen year old sister Mary were abandoned by their father and step mother after their mother had earlier been divorced by their father.

Luangwa district (in Zambia’s Eastern province) was a hive of activities for the children of the area on Thursday 16th June 2016 because this was their big day.

Scores of children from the surrounding schools gathered at Kapoche secondary school to witness a number of activities that were taking place. These activities ranged from cultural and contemporary dances, poems, singing, drama and many others

The story of Ignatius and Prescovia
