Children in Zambia launch the Every Last Child Campaign, calling for increased investments in children

Children from Zambia's Capital Lusaka took on parliamentarians in debating aspects of the national budget on Tuesday 21st November 2016. The children were particularly focused on those issues concerning children, as part of launching the Every Last Child Campaign and the UNCRC General Comment on public budgeting for the realisation of children’s rights in Zambia.

A CHILD EMBARKS ON ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN AGAINST CHILD MARRIAGES

                    

It’s a hot September afternoon as the crowd gathers under a huge African Mukuyu tree to witness a wedding between 30 year old Mutaka Chintuka and 16 year old Mandalena Kapenya a grade nine pupil at Chinemu Primary school.

However, this is not a real wedding but one displayed in role play to portray the vice of early marriages in Lufwanyama district, situated 456 kilometres from Zambia’s capital Lusaka.

GHR Members visit Zambia

Members of the GHR staff, board recently visited Zambia to meet with grantee partners and the children and families they serve.The first day was spent visiting families and children in Kabwe with Catholic Medical Mission Board and engaging a circle of mothers who have formed a savings group.

Each member of the serving group contributes 50 cents per week to provide emergency grants and small business loans for members. These efforts help families meet basic needs and keep their children at home.

Street kids re-unite with with family

 

Rabbeca and Mary have reason to be happy because they have been reunited with their grandparents after their parents abandoned them.Nine year old Rebecca and her thirteen year old sister Mary were abandoned by their father and step mother after their mother had earlier been divorced by their father.

Junior Mayors challenge senior Leader

 

Junior Mayor Initiative Zambia has called on local government to give young people chance to contribute to the management process of respective communities.Lusaka Junior Mayor Jonathan chinene said this when when the junior Mayors addressed the Lusaka Mayor aspirants in Lusaka recently.
